DIY Bed Canopy
Create a whimsical and romantic bedroom with a simple canopy DIY.

I live in an older home that has lots of popcorn ceiling. Crumbly, uneven popcorn ceiling. And while I try to avoid looking up too often in the rest of my house, when I'm lying in bed I can't help but stare up at the outdated and rough ceiling. No pleasant dreams come out of falling asleep gazing up at icky ceilings, my friends! So I decided that I would make some fun and dreamy bedroom canopies to cover up some of the popcorn texture and make our master bedroom a more intimate and cozy place!

Here's What You'll Need:
- 1/2 inch x 60 inch galvanized pipes
- 1/2 inch 90 degree pipe connector elbows
- 1/2 inch x 2 1/2 inch galvanized nipples
- 1/2 inch galvanized floor flanges
- Set of curtain panels
- Clear Pushpins
Since we decided to do two separate canopies, we picked up two pipes and four of everything else.
I started by screwing the galvanized nipples into the flanges and the elbows into the nipples to make the corner pieces.
Then, I screwed one of the now-completed corner pieces onto one end of the pipe, slipped on my curtain panel, and then put on the end corner piece.
After that it was a quick job to screw the completed bars into the ceiling. I held the bars up while my husband screwed them in using regular drywall/wood screws.

To get the dreamy draped canopy effect, I simply used clear pushpins to pin up the end and middle of the curtain. Pinning the curtains in the middle creates a billowy, dreamy effect.
And we're finished! This quick and easy project can totally transform the feeling of a bedroom. Everyone who comes over is definitely impressed! The master bedroom is now my favourite room in the house and I can sleep easily staring up at some pretty fabric instead of chippy popcorn!
If you want to change up the look of your bedroom, this is definitely a fun and easy way to do it and you can really mix up the style with different coloured and textured curtain panels! Happy DIYing and sweet dreams!
