Cool Graduation Party Ideas

Plan the perfect celebration for your new grad (no matter their age!) with these easy party tips.

"Congrad ulations!"

Time flies when you're having fun! Throw a casual graduation party and celebrate your grad's next adventure with a fun paper airplane-themed party.

Give the traditional "congrats" banner an upgrade with a cute pun and decorate the table with a DIY garland of paper airplanes. For a fun twist, use map paper. Simply start folding, string the airplanes on a clear wire, and hang above your buffet table or doorway.

Set out small bites for people to munch on while mingling. We love making individually sized portions for guests, so we corralled chocolate-covered pretzels in gingham napkins and popcorn in brown paper bags. These plate-free snacks make for an easy clean up.

Delectable Desserts

Create a colourful (and scrumptious!) display with an array of sweet and savoury options, such as blueberry mini pies, strawberry cake, and yummy chocolate chip cookies. Dress up your favourite cake recipe with simple yet decadent buttercream frosting and fresh, seasonal strawberries. We left the top layer of strawberries with the stems on for a cute pop of colour. Looking for a cake recipe? Try out this Coconut Cake option.

Tip! Spruce up a plain folding table with a stylish tablecloth or table runner in a summery colour combo, like nautical navy and white.

Delicious Drinks

Ensure your guests stay refreshed with a homemade beverage. Make a big batch and fill up a drink dispenser so there's plenty for everyone. Drink dispensers make for a convenient self-serve station and people can re-fill their own drinks. Best part about it? As the host you have one less thing to worry about!

For a colourful and tasty drink, we made this delicious Grapefruit and Thyme Lemonade with just a few fresh ingredients. Set out a mix of fruit slices on a tray for guests to garnish their drinks. It's a simple addition that will take your drink station to the next level!

Tip! Make an extra batch of this yummy drink and keep it refrigerated. This way you have a chilled replacement for when the first one is finished.

Vintage Card Station

Continue the travel theme with a vintage suitcase as the card station. Set out map-inspired paper and a marker for guests to write notes to the new grad, and clue in guests with a cute sign, such as "Best wishes for the graduate!"

Set the suitcase on a small table in your entryway or an empty spot on the buffet table, and fill with cards, money, and sample paper airplane notes with best wishes and advice on new adventures. After the party, take the notes and put them into a memory book along with photos from the party for your grad.
