How to Make Waffle Cone Batter
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup egg whites (from 2 large eggs)
- 7 Tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled
- In a medium size bowl, beat together the egg whites, sugar, and vanilla. Then, gradually add half of the flour and beat the mixture until smooth.
- Add salt, melted butter and remaining flour, and again, beat the mixture until it’s smooth.
- Plug the appliance into a wall outlet in your kitchen and wait for it to heat up. Oftentimes there is a red light to indicate that it’s ready.
- Preheat the waffle maker to the desired doneness using the temperature control dial.
- Raise the lid and brush both plates with vegetable oil to prevent the waffle from sticking.
- Pour 3-4 tablespoons of batter into the center of the bottom plate, allowing batter to spread for even filling. You’ll want to pour in a 2D cone shape. With the point at the top and a round bottom.
- Lower the lid. Do not press down or the batter will leak, causing the waffle cone to be too thin and crack.
- Wait approximately 2-3 minutes for the batter to cook.
- Using a heat proof metal utensil, like a flat icing spatula, remove the waffle cone from the appliance.
- Using a cone roller, wrap the cone around the mold and let cool.
Tip!
Remember to move fast because they cool very quickly!
- Once the cone is set, remove it from the roller and place on a parchment paper-lined tray.
- Ensure the waffle cone maker is hot enough for a second batch, allow it to heat for about 2 minutes before adding more batter. Repeat for each batch.
To clean up, allow the waffle cone maker to cool completely before wiping down the exterior with a damp cloth. Remove the plates and either wash by hand or in the dishwasher – check the product’s manual.
