Teapot Sizes
Instead of being measured by their dimensions, teapot kettles are measured by the capacity of tea each kettle can hold. There are four main teapot sizes: less than 1 quart, 1–2 quarts, 2–3 quarts, and 3 or more quarts. Here’s a breakdown of each quart size so you know how many cups each size brews and how many people you can serve from each kettle.
Less Than 1 Quart
Teapot sizes that are less than 1 quart produce one to two cups of tea. This size holds the perfect capacity for individual use, since the average person drinks one or two cups of tea at a time. If you are the sole tea drinker in your home or friend group, a teapot size that is less than 1 quart ensures you have the right amount of tea every time and will not waste any extra water.
Looking to make enough tea for up to four people? Then the right teapot size for you would be 1–2 quarts. This size allows you to make enough tea for two cups per person. It’s ideal for the average household of four, so everyone can enjoy the perfect cup of tea!
If you have a larger household or a lot of friends who like to drink tea, a kettle with a capacity to make between 2 to 3 quarts of tea at a time is very beneficial. These teapot sizes can brew up to 12 cups, which is enough to give six people two cups to enjoy.
Hosting a party soon and want to offer plenty of tea? Then a kettle with the capacity of 3 or more quarts can come in handy. Having this size on hand makes it easy to brew a large pot of tea at once to serve everyone at the same time. Plus, it provides the right amount for a large group of people by giving at least 12 cups.
