I've been saving up my empty spice jars knowing that I wanted to do a decor project.
Eventually, inspiration struck.
I've had an empty rustic picture frame on my console table for years. I've always loved the frame, but it wasn't really doing anything for my feel of the space. I thought it would be cute to hang my little spice jars from the frame with twine as wall art.
First, I needed to add a way to hang my jars from the frame. I was going to use nails, but when I started hammering them into the wood frame, I was worried that the wood would split, so I used screws instead.
I measured the width of the frame and divided it by three to determine how far apart to place each screw. At first, I put the screws on the front of the frame, but when I finished the jars weren't hanging right. I took them off and put them on the back of the frame instead, and they looked better that way. I make mistakes so you don't have to!
I wrapped and tied the twine first around the neck of the jars and then around the screws, slightly varying the heights of the jars.
This barn wood frame that would work perfectly for this DIY. It's a great overall size and is 1.75-inches thick, which is enough to accommodate screws.

You can use your new wall art year round by changing out the items you place in the jars. Think sprigs of evergreens and winter berries in colder months, wild flowers in the spring, and sand with seashells in the summer!
