Place your hand or debris within 10 inches or 130° of the infrared sensor and the lid will open automatically. If debris or hands remain within the detection range of the infrared sensor, the lid will remain open. When you take your hand off the lid for three seconds, the lid will close automatically. In normal daily use, the battery life can be up to 6 months. It includes a ring liner that keeps the garbage bag out of public view and keeps it tidy.
