This Afghan hand-woven wool Soumak Kilim is a rare piece of world art that will elevate your living space. Its flat weave style, made without knots, gives it a smooth surface. This Kilim is made in the Northwestern part of Afghanistan, in the province of Herat, by the Balouchi tribes in the village of Mushwani. The warp strands are used as the foundation and the weft strands are used as both part of the foundation and in creating the patterns. The weft strands are simply passed through the warp strands. Due to the handmade nature of our kilims, the size may vary from as advertised by 3-4 inches. Regular vacuuming and annual professional cleaning will keep your kilim looking new for years to come.
