The colors are true to the product photos. Very beautiful and rich brown checkered color. The rug is lightweight and was easy to lay but it does mean the rug moves and shifts easy also. personally not a problem to me. there was no smell. the texture is soft and comfortable not rough or jagged. the ends are still turned up about a week after laying but doesn't bother me.
