The vogue of rock crystal became in Renaissance times a favourite among rulers who took pride in showing their best pieces in "Kunstkammer" in Vienna, Austria, Dresden, Germany and Prague, Bohemia. There is no collection without this precious mineral, sometimes decorated with gold, silver, enamel or simply engraved (Treasures of Marco, Sainte-Chapelle in Paris, Medici Chapel in Florence and the collections of King Louis XIV kept in the Gallery in The Louvre Museum in Paris).
