The Roman emperor Heliogabalus attempts to smother his unsuspecting guests with rose petals released from a false ceiling in this work based on a most-likely invented tale in the Augustan history. The Dutch-born artist was a classical subject painter who became famous for his portrayal of the decadence and splendour of the Roman Empire. The authentic stretched canvas replica painting captures the original work's texture, depth of colour, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. The replica 4.375" wide, European style, bright gold-toned, ribbed frame is cast in quality designer resin with an acanthus leaf and floret border that draws the eye toward the beautiful image. Proudly printed and framed in the USA using imported moulding.
Another beautiful masterpiece purchased from Wayfair. I have quite a few now and I am totally smitten with my art pieces. Thank you Wayfair. Joyce. Wyandotte, MI. Thu Mar 06 2025
