We purchased two of these beds for our 9 and 12 year old boys. The beds seem sturdy and we like the drawers. One problem, there is a steel center support rod. It is connected to the head and foot of the bed. There is a mounting pad glued to the inside to carry the support rod. Both of the beds have suffered the same fate...the mounting plate has detached from the footboard. This failure, however, has seemingly not caused a change in the strength of the bed. Would not recommend at this time due to poor design.
