You will not feel "blue" as you snuggle under this lovely updated version of the old favorite, the Log Cabin Pattern. It is a pretty blending of dark blues, navy blue, medium blue, beige, and off-white, in a myriad of plaids, checks, old fashioned prints, and solids. It is backed by a lovely plaid in navy, medium blue, beige, and off white that also appears in the pattern on the front, and, quite frankly, looks pretty good on its own on the reverse side, if you should tire of the patchwork. Not that you will!! This quilt comes out of the package and just instantly plumps up like my grandmother's old favorites, we kids used to call "jumbos" because they were so big and seemed to encase us as we were tucked in bed by our grandparents. You will find this quilt is not skimpy in the least . My queen-size quilt stretches from the bottom of the box springs (and they are the high ones) and tucks under my pillow cases and hangs over the top of the bed by an inch or more.. It covers the mattress generously on either side so it looks neat and old-fashioned. (I don't use a bed skirt as my bed is high, and my dogs are forever burrowing under the bed and were ripping them apart, so I gave up on them) My room is blue and this looks wonderful in it, but it would be a great way to accent a beige colored room, or even one with off white walls to add some color and zip. I haven't washed it as yet, but since it is washable and I have a large capacity machine, I do not see any problem. It's definitely a step up from the terror I go through when one of the cats hacks a hairball on an antique quilt, is it not? Now, I have the look of a prized antique, at a fraction of the cost, with the convenience of laundering when accidents happen. (and they always do, what with pets and hubby's who like to eat in bed!) Pros: The Look of an antique quilt at a fraction of the cost, easy to launder, Co-ordindates with several color options if you use your imagination Cons: None, I can see
