Measure measure measure. We made the mistake of measuring his existing bed height, rather than what would happen with his new bed height, and ended up not needing this box. BUT—it was indeed very easy to assemble (no springs) and another testament to how clever furniture is being engineered these days for the DIY-er. The good news is that it is soft pine and just as easy to disasseemble, which we did, and delivered to a couple who will need a box for a twin mattress soon.
