this is the real deal. It's heavy; it's real wood; it looks authentically like a barn door. Fancy that! I'm glad it didn't come with hardware since I have a challenging setup with a sloping ceiling. My savvy carpenter made it work using actual barn door hardware he found at a tractor supply store or some such. I still need to buy finger-pulls or grab bars for each side of it. The hardware is crucial; you won't be happy with the door if you're not happy with the hardware you use. This door was exactly what we wanted. We stained it over a weekend, then my husband assembled in a couple hours. Another couple hours to hang it, worked great. We did need to adjust the top rail slightly from the instructions by raising it up, but otherwise no issues.
