I would send it back for a replacement but Wayfair charges for shipping it back to the price of the item. The carriers beat up the package during transit for sure. Me and my husband put the bed together and we got it done in about an hour. Once together we realized that we needed a little more support for our foam mattress because the metal slats were not wide and had to much space between them to give good support. We just put the cardboard the frame came in on top of the frame and it worked great. The frame is very sturdy and i needed that support being over 200 lbs.
