These are steel curtain rings with a silicone inner ring to dampen noise while sliding on a curtain rod. This much is true, so they do function. I had to return these because I ordered the white color and the paint was just chipping off the rings everywhere! It was chipping in the bag when I received it, it was chipping while I was handling the rings. For the price, I don't think these should be chipping paint so easily. Maybe some of the other finishes are different? Maybe I got a pair of defective rings? However, if you're looking for a white finish, I wouldn't recommend these.
