ZWILLING Sommelier Double Lever Corkscrew

This wine opener is simple but well crafted. It is heavy in hand - weighing about 23 of a pound. It’s solid stainless steel and has a nice flat silver finish. The craftsmanship is obvious and I doubt I’ll be needing to ever buy a replacement due to wear and tear or breakage. Clearly there are cheaper alternatives, but if you enjoy buying well made items that last a lifetime as I do, you might appreciate this opener. I would buy it again.

Heavy, love the feel of the corkscrew.

I had great expectations for this corkscrew because my very old similar one was excellent. It was just time to find a new one. I chose this because of Zwilling/Henckels generally-good quality. Sadly, this item was NOT great: it's very heavy, and worst of all CLUNKY. The little "ratchet" gearing mechanism catches & halts constantly while turning. This is not how these type corkscrews are meant to be: they should have a SMOOTH mechanism. For the hefty price tag, one expects more. I have a $5 "cheapie" that actually works better than this one. I considered returning, but it seems like too much headwork & COST to me, to return it. I think I will just absorb the cost, and feel SAD about the downhill-slide that this company has obviously been on.

Best corkscrew on the market!!!!

This is just what I was looking for. I really like this style of corkscrew. The feel, mechanics are very satisfying and I also really like the spiked tip versus the curled corkscrew, which results in less tearing of the cork, especially important for older more friable corks. The flanges are also wide and grip very well for a secure removal of the cork. Very pleased.

Made in Germany quality - sturdy, durable and superbly crafted.
