Storage space is much smaller than it seems. The lift top part is pretty stiff and heavy so it is a hassle to open and close, especially if it is on a surface that it can slide on easily.

This bench is great, our cats love it. We were excited about storage but one of them immediately made the interior their new bed. Color as pictured, material has stood up well and it gives them a great perch for catching the action outside the front windows.
