We have a stack of 100-Watt bulbs that I wanted to use in our 60-Watt fixture but I was concerned about the heat. I installed this dimmer and turned it down to what I perceived as the light from a 60-Watt bulb. I ran it for several hours and touched the dimmer and it was not hot, so I will continue to use it in this service. I haven't used the rotary adjustment so I can not comment on its durability.. I use my own Tiffany-style 25W bulb in my yard light and need a photo control to allow light when I need it. This light control base is vase-shaped (narrow at the bottom and wider as it goes up) which fits in my light socket perfectly.
