This table is PERFECT for my preschool classroom. Heavy, but that means it's very solid. Pretty easy to put together -- some of the holes to attach the legs didn't line up, but with a drill, it was easy to put a screw through the wood. The legs are adjustable, but you need to remove two bolts per leg to do it. So learn from my mistakes and make sure to measure the height you actually want, because it's annoying to do twice.. Kidney-shaped desk with gilt-tooled black leather top.  A high-end antique reproduction with variegated walnut cross-banded raised panels, solid oak drawers, and black leather inset top.  This kidney desk sits on two pedestal cabinets and a privacy panel. The generous privacy panel features a removable rear panel, revealing a storage area suitable for a large surge protector or monitor lift. The top of the desk has a large hinged trap door with a half-moon cutout for cable management. The desk has graduated drawers on the left, two pencil drawers, and a large storage area on the right.  The doors and drawers feature finely decorated brass pulls, which were crafted using traditional lost-wax casting techniques.  The desk is a medium golden brown, which coordinates well with walnut and mahogany. The lightly distressed finish on this desk is the result of a meticulous, multi-step process that creates a warm, patina-rich appearance resembling a period piece.  The finish is forgiving, easy to touch up, and suitable for active families.   The glazed black leather top has warm undertones and gilt tooling. I’m giving a low rating because the table and legs arrived with a few dings and scratches. Even though the title and description state “solid wood,” which technically it is, the wood used is very cheaply and will chipscratch easily, which makes sense that it arrived in the condition it did. I’m most upset because the hardware pack wasn’t included upon delivery. After reaching out to Wayfair, they shipped a hardware pack, which was estimated to reach us 10-15 days later and didn’t end up arriving by the estimated delivery date. Fast forward to now, the hardware pack arrived exactly one week after the estimated date, all for it to be missing the screws needed to secure the legs to the table. Rather than dealing with “customer support” again or waiting another month for screws to arrive, we decided to go to a local hardware store to purchase the remaining screws. Still peeved about the scratches, but I’m even more disappointed in Wayfair’s support and professionalism. We had a terrible experience and won’t be shopping with Wayfair again.. Anonymous. Inspired by the tropical craftsmanship of the West Indies and classic British and Dutch Colonial design periods, the Charleston Writing Desk has a timeless kidney shape, stretchers, rattan drawer fronts, intricately-carved leaf motifs on the legs and a robus leather writing surface top. Crafted of Cherry Veneers, Rattan and Resin, it is finished in the deep, rich Maraschino Cherry. There are five drawers. The colors are stunning the desk is heavy and the materials dont look cheap or fake. I was apprehensive about the fake marble but it looks great. Ran into a couple issues while assembling bc there wasnt enough of certain kinds of screws. Also be mindful of the orientation you want the desk.
