I wanted a shallow light for this fan and this is definitely that. This light was meant to attach directly vertical into fan. My fan was to use side screws to hold it. My hubby used self tapping screws and screwed to fan light cap lid to the top of this light. We where then able to screw the cap and new light onto the fan. Win win!!
