Well the brass is really yellow so it looks less like real brass and more banana and it was scuffed on some parts (very minor around screw ends) so you can tell it's a finish. However I've placed it in a dark part of the room and it looks more realistic. It came well packed and protected thank goodness since the box was punctured in several areas. Thanks Fed Ex. The base is heavy enough to stand well on thick shag carpet (but keep it away from toddlers and hyper pets). Shade is huge but nice. Lumination is subtle during the day and definitely boosts the aura of the room. Only drawback is the switch lines up with the cord placement at the base. I have the cord facing the wall and if it were opposite it would be easier to turn on/off, although I may buy a remote controlled lightbulb to solve the issue. All in all it's a keeper.. Amanda.
