Amherst 57"W Solid Wood Storage Console Table with 8 Cube Storage

This is a beautiful addition to my daughter's room.

I purchased the Mccoppin 1 Door Accent Cabinet a while ago and I liked it so much I specifically searched by this brand when looking for a cubed storage cabinet. Overall I really like the end result, but I had some issues putting it together, including gaps in the alignments of the cubes, and a nearly impossible sticker to remove, which is why I gave it 4 stars. I put this together myself. I like to think I'm pretty good at putting furniture together, and overall, this was pretty easy to put together; HOWEVER, I had to take it apart once it was all finished because I hated the gaps where the tops of the bottom cubes and bottoms of the top cubes met the middle shelf. Let me explain - to put the cubes together without screws/nails showing, you are provided little wooden pegs that you hammer into pre-drilled holes at the tops of the bottom cubes, and at the bottom of the top cubes. The instructions say to hammer them in halfway, so I did, but then when you put them all together, there were gaps in the cube walls where they meet the middle shelf because the pegs were not hammered in far enough. I tried to force the pegs in deeper by sitting on the shelf with my full weight, but it wouldn't work and I had to undo half of it, hammer the pegs in until maybe 1/4 of an inch was left and rebuild it. On the bright side, it shows how strong the item is that I could sit on it without issue. There are still some minor gaps, but it is not half as noticeable as it was originally. Another issue I had was a large safety sticker on the inside of the right top cube. It was about 4 square inches, and very visible. It explains the tip over safety issue, and is a necessary warning that comes with pretty much every tall piece of furniture; HOWEVER, I don't know why it would be placed where it was - it was too high up to hide with a basket or decorative items, and it was nearly impossible to remove. It would not peel off. I tried with fingernails and tiny shreds came off. Because the wood is pine (soft), I couldn't scrape at it with anything too hard. I literally spent an hour applying Goo Be Gone and rubbing the sticker with a toothbrush before it was all off. I had a greasy pile of tacky sticker pieces. It was horrible. I can't believe it was intended to be kept on - if so, put it in a less visible place, like the back or bottom of the top piece! Despite my initial trouble, I do like how it turned out. I just wanted to give fair warning for anyone who might not have the patience to work to get it how you want it to look.

The “real” wood is the softest wood imaginable. It didn’t fit together very well—gaps in the joints. It LOOKS fine to the unsuspecting eyes, though. Size and color were exactly as described. Knowing that good quality Amish furniture would be 3-4 times the price, I guess I’m satisfied.

Well built for the price, the finish is nice and dark as expected. Solid wood or at least a very good veneer on it. Pretty easy to put together. Great product for the price point.

We absolutely love these shelves. Took a little effort to assemble, but nothing we couldn’t handle. Gorgeous color and perfect dimensions for our space.
