Nice looking and sturdy item. My feathered friends, from 3 inch Goldfinches to 12 inch Black birds and a few cardinals in between, have taken to this feeder on day one. Just wish there was a separate removable tray so you wouldn’t have to take down the whole birdhouse to clean and refill the built-in one.

The pole mount should come preinstalled. This feeder is for pole mounted systems. You used to make your feeders out of wood. It was easy to repair my old fly thru until the bear destroyed it. So I hope your new composite will outlast your wood feeders. Also I hope it is made in the United States. The birds love it. That is what counts for now.

I was a bit apprehensive about purchasing this item as I wasn't sure that the birds would visit the feeder - seeing as they're already very skittish about anything new. However, I loaded the tray with bird seed and the first bird jumped into the feeder within 30 minutes. Now, I've seen as many as eight birds (small ones, mind you) chowing down from the feeder while another dozen squabble over who's going to be next to get in. It's quite the entertaining show.

Fantastic feeder! If you are going to have a feeder that birds are safer in this is it, they can see everything around them, including hawks and other predators. At the same time, I can see them better than ever. Birds naturally like to eat from the ground. This feeder was a great choice. Would rate everything about this feeder a ten on all aspects. Well made and with recycled materials that will last; who could ask for more.
