This shade sail is made of a thick but flexible material that should provide just the right amount of protection from the sun without being a total "sunblock" (or completely waterproof) and the reinforced attachment points on the sail seem sufficiently strong. I haven't yet installed it, but the included kit appears to be very comparable to the separate installation kit I ordered just in case the included kit was flimsier or more difficult to use. This particular brand of sail offered a lot of different size options, which is ideal if you are looking for a sail to fit a space with unequal distances between the triangle points. So I’ve never had one of these before and I thought it would be cute over a new little patio that I created. However, I found out from my association that we are not allowed to hang any flags or anything from the building so now that I have it, I’m not allowed to hang it. The product itself was interesting. I’m not sure why but I was expecting more of a canvas type material. This is light and almost shiny and sparkly. It would let some light through for sure and it’s very very lightweight. If I were able to hang it, I feel like it would be very easy to do. You can see the sturdiness of the hanging hardware and the size of it would’ve been perfect maybe a little small, so maybe I should’ve picked one a little bigger. I love this canopy. It covers the entire lower part of our porch, except to the end where, if it rains, pours down on you. The canopy came with metallic wires that can be used to secure it, but the wires are too long, and there is no way to adjust them, so we ended up getting a spring that would allow for stretching when it's windy.
