We began in the 1960s with the challenge of creating an awning canvas with a substantially longer lifespan than cotton. Sunbrella has become widely adopted for shade structures, marine canvas and upholstery fabric for both outdoor and indoor applications. Our textiles are made with close attention to design detail, and engineered with robust performance characteristics that provide resistance to fading and degradation from sunlight and chemical exposure. The fabric is tactile yet durable, has industry-leading environmental characteristics, is easy to care for and offers long life – wherever it’s used. No Sunbrella manufacturing facility in the world sends waste to landfills. A result of our focus on efficiency, this monumental achievement allows Sunbrella to lead by example, putting sustainability into practise every day across the globe. Our unique colouring process not only makes Sunbrella fabrics fade-resistant, it also conserves more water than conventional dyeing processes. At Sunbrella we believe it’s important to preserve the environment around our facilities. We work to conserve the plant and animal life that is native to the area and encourage our employees to plant gardens designed to provide fresh food and nourish local wildlife. This protects against Sunbrella fabric becoming unserviceable due to colour or strength loss from normal usage and exposure conditions, including sunlight, mildew and atmospheric chemicals.
