My dog was afraid of the button for a couple of days but after that he figured it out pretty quickly. He gets so excited now when I pull it out for him. I agree that it can be inconsistent with how many treats come out which is a little frustrating. I always monitor him with it so if nothing comes out I prompt him to go back and press the button. I also wish the button didn't make noise but I can live with it. And a skittish dog probably wouldn't like the noise it makes. But it works for my hound who is very food driven.

We love this versatile pet treat dispenser! Our dog trainer has been using this toy to help my pup (who has some separation anxiety) become happier in her crate and more accustomed to her people leaving the room. The sound helps associate the event with treats. As a bonus, she loves pressing the buttons and getting a reward! We have the unit dispenser in her crate (it fits through the wire side), and the door open, so the crate is associated with treats.
