4 Ways to Fake a Fireplace Mantel

Even without a fireplace, it's possible to create a festive, cozy spot for holiday decorations. To start, carve out space in the living room, then try one of these easy ways to fake a mantel.
1. Add a Floating Shelf with Hooks
Mount a shelf with built-in hooks for stockings, and use the top surface for holiday candles and garlands. Then hang a mirror above to complete the look.
2. Set Out a Blanket Ladder
If space is limited, lean a tall blanket ladder on a central wall, then wrap the side rails with garlands and loop stockings over the top. Use the lower rungs to keep throws in easy reach.
3. Use an Open-Bottom Console
Stack wooden logs underneath an open console table, then drape garlands across the top and add seasonal decor. When hanging stockings, space them across the front of the table.
