Rectangle
- Rectangular rugs are the most common rug shape, working in any room from bedrooms to dining rooms.
- Available in all sizes from a small 2-feet by 3-feet door mat to an 8-feet by 11-feet living room rug, and even larger.
Runner
- The standard width of a runner ranges from 2 feet 6 inches to 3 feet. The length of a runner can vary from 4 feet to 10 feet.
- Runners are long, skinny rugs that often line hallways and staircases. They can also provide an alternative to small rugs in long or wide kitchens.
Round
- Standard sizes of round rugs are 4, 6, 8, and 10 feet in diameter, but they can come in other sizes as well.
- Though commonly found in entryways, round rugs can also be used to create an intimate grouping of furniture or under a dining table.
Square
- Square rugs can come in a variety of sizes, from a small 3 footer to larger models.
- Square rugs have many uses, including accenting furniture, creating conversational spaces, and warming up entryways.
Oval
- The size range for oval rugs is wide, from smaller than 2 feet in width to larger than 8 feet wide.
- Oval rugs can be used in the same manner as rectangular and round rugs.
Octagon
- A more traditional design, octagonal rugs are often found in entryways, but can also be used in the same ways as a round rug.
- Octagon-shaped rugs can be found in sizes ranging from 3 feet to 10 feet wide.
Half-Circle
- Commonly used as door mats, half-circle rugs are also called half-moon rugs.
