This Computer monitor stands for 2 monitors/laptop/TV. This is an ideal choice when you need multiple computers to work together,Monitor stand riser provides a nice workspace, it can be used as a computer monitor stand, monitor riser stand, printer stand, laptop stand, tv riser stand etc. Desktop organzier shelf offer extra space to store your keyboard or other accessories under your monitor.
The administrative assistant at work needed a strong dual monitor stand, that provided the greatest amount of fully open access space under the monitor stand, for a 24 inch deep and 48 inch across sitting to standing desk which can be set at any height. This is the only monitor stand I could find, available in all white, that could do the job.
Since it was back ordered, it took almost three weeks to arrive. However the packaging is outstanding, providing excellent protection to the contents, and all hardware items were there, with no dings or scratches.
The painted finish on the wood pieces is good, and the painted finish on the metal pieces is fair. Where the hollow metal square bar pieces go together, to make the support rails under the top, there were numerous burrs and rough edges which interfered with the fit up of these pieces. This required de-burring by hand with a small flat mill file, before the rails could be properly assembled. This is vital, as the rails must go together tightly and evenly, or the rails will not support the load placed on the wood top.
The cuts required, bending, forming, and subsequent tack welding done at the factory - of the hollow metal square bars for the supporting end pieces - is only fair. One side was often finished better than the other, so the good looking sides were placed facing outward on the ends during assembly. One end piece, still had a punched out small metal disc rattling around inside of the end piece, caused when a screw hole was punched - which could not be removed from the final manufactured form. So when the dual monitor stand is tipped on its side, you can hear the metal disc slide around inside the end piece. This is just a minor annoyance, as the monitor stand is obviously not tipped on its side when it is being used - but again shows that clean up of the metal square bars during the manufacturing process was slipshod.
All hardware was of excellent quality, and went together smoothly. The Allen Wrench (hex key) provided to tighten the hardware, fit the hardware well, and truly was the only tool needed for assembly. However, the tolerance on the holes punched in the metal pieces was too generous for the cap screw head diameters, and on assembly, ¼ inch hole diameter standard size flat steel zinc plated washers (cheaply available at any hardware store) had to be placed under the heads of the screws - to provide enough bearing area so the rails would not be distorted and twist, when the screws were tightened during final assembly. It is vital to have these flat washers installed, for the assembly to end up straight and square, and able to support the load on the wood top.
While the assembly instructions are clear, for the best results some additional steps are required. The entire dual monitor stand should first be fully assembled while upside down, and the screws should not be tightened. The doweled wood pieces must remain firmly pressed together, as the screws are tightened, and final assembly must take place on a very flat large table. The two metal end pieces to the support rails should be fully tightened first, and then the two metal end pieces to the two end wood pieces tightened. Making sure the wood pieces remain firmly together, the four central screws through the two support rails into the wood pieces are tightened, then the four screws into the wood pieces at the ends are tightened. This ensures no gaps are left between the wood pieces, and the final assembly is flat, square, and strong.
The four thin rubber pads provided to protect the finish of a desk from being scratched by the bottom of the metal end pieces - are an inadequate bad joke. Another trip to the hardware store for adhesive Scotch brand felt pads designed to protect hardwood floors from furniture legs - solved this problem.
The final assembled dual monitor stand is rigid and strong, and due to the steel support rails, easily supports two large monitors. Since this dual monitor stand is put together with heavy duty machine screws, instead of cam locks, the joints will not become loose during service - which is a significant durability advantage over many other monitor stands. As noted in other reviews, some buyers do not like the seam lines in the wood top where the three pieces come together, but this is not a problem for us.
However, due to the deburring required of the metal pieces, the only fair finish, and the tedious assembly required - I only rate this dual monitor stand at three stars. As usual with Wayfair furniture, trips to the hardware store for additional items were required to assemble an adequate product. The final assembled product will definitely do the job well for many years, and is strong and rigid enough to take considerable abuse, but I think it is over priced by about 50% for what you get. Unfortunately in our case, it is the only dual monitor stand with a large enough open span, that meets our requirements. If I could have found some other dual monitor stand that meets our requirements, I may well have not bought this one.. Mark. North Attleboro, MA. Sun Oct 13 2024
