Demirci Wool Striped Indoor Rug

Kilims are known as flat-weave, 'pile-less' rugs; the design is also known as slit-weave. These beautiful designs are achieved by interweaving the various colours of the vertical and horizontal strands of the rug. It can be used as a hanging piece or as a floor covering. This particular rug was made in the Varanasi region of India. This rug is made of 100% wool. Those vegetable dyes most commonly used are madder, the root of a spindly bush which grows abundantly in many carpet-producing area.
