[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This knife was a replacement for a cheap chef's knife I had owned for several years. I always have a moment of panic when using a knife that is brand new to my hand whether or not the task is easy or hard. I need time to acclomate to the curve in my hand and usually have to chop, dice, mince and cut much slower than normal making cooking a nuisance rather than a pleasure. I was off and running right after opening. I gave it a test to see how sharp it was before using my knife sharpener. I was very happy with the sharpness and even more impressed after sharpening. I was making a large meal with lots of prep work and it was a breeze. I cook 7 days a week so having a great knife in the kitchen is very important to me. I have varying price points on my knives which I choose to describe as orphans as they are all different brands. This one can hang with the more expensive brands and it looks as nice as well. This is my favorite size of nice to use. It just gets everything done and quickly. Looking forward to making many more meals in the future.. Tuffcookie. TX. Tue Oct 22 2019

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As a professional chef this knife is very nice. Balanced really well between blade and handle, and looks very pretty as well. It’s heavy enough that it doesn’t feel flimsy or brittle, and also light enough that it doesn’t feel like a burden to use everyday. It’s super sharp so theres no issues on that front, and I’m a fan of the darkness of the blade so I can clearly see how the blade is holding up. 10/10 would recommend. Will. Sun Aug 30 2026

The Chinese chef's knife from the ZWILLING ALL*STAR series is the perfect addition to the kitchen of true design lovers. The kitchen knife will impress you with its high-quality design. You can choose the coloured knife with a premium logo application from one of up to six trendy colours. Choose the logo application that best suits your style, and that of your kitchen – for example a timeless-elegant silver – and put together your personal knife set. The Chinese chef's knife with its 18 cm blade length divides meat and fish as effortlessly as vegetables. All our 290 years of experience in the production of high-quality knives have gone into the chef's knife. For example, in the ice-hardened FRIODUR blade, which is particularly cut-resistant and flexible. The blade is particularly durable because it is made in Germany from the exclusive ZWILLING special formula steel – a stable, corrosion-resistant steel. Thanks to the ergonomic handle, the Chinese chef's knife is always comfortable and easy to handle. And because nature is also close to our hearts, we have developed new packaging especially for the knives in the ZWILLING ALL*STAR series. This does not use any plastic at all and is therefore very sustainable.

Good quality, sharp blade. Perhaps a bit heavier than ideal for me, which is why it’s 4*, not 5.. Tlellami. Wed Nov 19 2025

A good all-purpose knife is very important whenever you need to slice a variety of different vegetables, onions and meat. Thanks to its unusual form, this Chinese chef’s knife is a good choice for this, because it can be used in a number of different ways. It is characterised by the large, almost rectangular blade and the horizontal cutting edge, which looks a lot like a classic cleaver. However, while the latter’s main purpose is that of cutting bone, this should not be tried with the Chinese version. The blade is thinner than that of a cleaver, making it better suited for cutting. Real professionals also use the blade’s large surface to transport the finely cut ingredients into the wok or a pot. This is done with particular ease with the well-formed plastic handle. The knife is made from one single piece of high-quality steel. The FRIODUR blade is additionally refined in a special ice-hardening procedure, making it very robust and giving it a particularly hard cutting edge. With this ZWILLING Chinese chef’s knife, you can cut like a pro.

Four Star knives are made of proprietary special formula steel that has been perfected for almost 300 years. Combined with ZWILLING’s signature ice-hardening technique, these FRIODUR blades are harder, sharper, they will not stain or chip, and they retain their sharpness longer. Precision forged from a single piece of steel, the SIGMAFORGE knives have an exceptionally sturdy, balanced, and flexible blade.

this knife is incredibly sharp, well balanced and light in the hand - with a slight curve to the belly. The sharp point is handy for some detail work without switching knives, and a quick honing to the edges help me slice through tomatoes (skin on) with ease. The light weight and relatively short blade length (though is has a usefully deep surface area) makes it very ergonomic, to my preference. Great purchase, no regrets so far. Used frequently in the last 2 months.. Hermanator86. Sun Oct 18 2026

The Miyabi Black 5000MCD is a true work of art. The blade is constructed of micro-carbide powdered MC66 steel, which is ice-hardened to an impressive 66 HRC. This results in an exceptionally sharp and lasting edge. The blade is wrapped in 132 additional layers of steel, resulting in a beautiful flower Damascus pattern. The handle of the Miyabi Black series is made from unique wood, black ash. The grain and colour of the black ash contrast with the Damascus of the blade. The handle is crafted in a traditional "D" shape, providing optimal ergonomics for fatigue-free cutting in the kitchen. Handcrafted in Seki, Japan.

I have the wrong choice. I tended to buy a sharp knife to cut raw meats. After browsing several dozens of similar Chef's knives, I read the line like "for all kinds of purpose" so I selected this one. Yet, it is good for vegetables, fruits or cooked meats, and just a little bit sharper than my other non-branding, very cheap knives. I recommend to make easy for customers: the practical items like a chef's knife, divided them into only 2 or 3 categories, i.e. for meats for veggies, and for specialty; upgrading the sharpness, firmness by generations, and stick with the best handles..
