I ordered this over other ladder bookcases because at only 8.7" deep, it was not as deep as other options, which worked best in my space. Since they don't offer a white/wood combo, I ordered two different colors (black/wood and white/white) to create what I was looking for. While I didn' t have any issues with the shelves on either piece or the black hardware (legs and top attachments to the wall), the white hardware is AWFUL - enough so that I would warn anyone DO NOT BUY THIS BOOKSHELF IN WHITE. One of the legs was so badly bent that it was impossible to screw into any of the shelves. As other reviews have mentioned, the welding is generally low quality - so there are weird bubbles of metal at the top of most of the leg pieces that just looks very cheap. Both of the top pieces (required for attachment to the wall) I received were also very wonkily constructed - the interior threading which allows each piece to screw into the leg below it is at a bad angle, so neither piece screws cleanly into the top shelf and this gives the overall piece an out-of-kilter, funhouse look (definitely not what I was looking for). I'm now waiting to see if I can get additional replacement pieces from the manufacturer, but shipping has been slow and I'm still unable to fully assemble this bookcase almost a month after I initially placed the order. (Another review mentioned the sharp edges are difficult to attach a furniture pad and could scratch your floors - I tested out multiple thread sizes and found that furniture leveling feet in the size 'M8×1.25' will screw into these legs, so you can order those and add your own anti-scratch pads [also lets you level the feet if your floor isn't completely straight.])
