Not sure how to alter the tilt of headboard as in description and though it says finished back allows you to place anywhere in room, you can definitely tell it’s a back with the supports mounted there- it is finished though. This bed was very easy to build. I built it by myself with maybe an hour a little bit more than an hour. The instructions will clear on how to use all the materials that they packed into the back of the headboard. The only thing that wasn’t clear was where to put the slats when you were adding that in but again you can use your best judgment of where to add in the screws. The package is a tall box. If it needs to be transported to upper level or lower level must have help to do so. I just opened the package and took each piece to upper level. The packaging was great. Instructions were clear. Lots of extra pieces of nuts were given. Can’t go wrong anywhere with assembly. Each piece was very well made. There’s hardly any assembly. It probably takes about 30 minutes to 40 minutes maximum. The wood pieces are solid wood. Has very smooth finish. The texture of the finished surface is soft and gives expensive feel. Once assembled one can tell its sturdy construction. We’ve been using it for a month now and no creaking or any noise. Perfect for apartment size bedroom or guest bedroom. Very happy with purchase. There are a TON of beds similar to this for much cheaper, but it was nearly half off and several hundred more normally so I went for it. It is someone different than the many industrial look beds out . The mattress shown is 14” thick and not yet expanded. I think there might be a tolerable 1” gap if you got a 12” mattress. It’s really beautiful, all wood, and what one hopes for when getting the cheaper ones, which are fine for dorms. But this thing is really solid and unbelievably heavy.
