The package is a tall box. If it needs to be transported to upper level or lower level must have help to do so. I just opened the package and took each piece to upper level. The packaging was great. Instructions were clear. Lots of extra pieces of nuts were given. Can’t go wrong anywhere with assembly. Each piece was very well made. There’s hardly any assembly. It probably takes about 30 minutes to 40 minutes maximum. The wood pieces are solid wood. Has very smooth finish. The texture of the finished surface is soft and gives expensive feel. Once assembled one can tell its sturdy construction. We’ve been using it for a month now and no creaking or any noise. Perfect for apartment size bedroom or guest bedroom. Very happy with purchase. This bed frame looked awesome in the photos. When it arrived, however, the delivery carrier (whether it was FedEx or UPS) had really banged it up. The box was totally ripped and torn (along with another non-Wayfair package I received that day), and the product had some minor dents, though nothing super noticeable. The main problem was that it was missing Part B. I reached out to customer service to get a replacement part, but they told me they dont send individual parts. They wanted me to repackage this extremely heavy item, take it to a UPS store, and ship it back before they would send a whole new one. I am disabled, live alone, dont have a car, and live on the third floor. Since the driver just leaves it downstairs, it took me about three hours to haul this heavy product up three flights of stairs completely by myself. Repackaging it, finding a way to transport it to UPS, and then carrying a replacement up those stairs again simply wasnt an option. After going back and forth a few times, customer service finally understood my situation and refunded the entire purchase. They gave me the option to buy a new one, which I wont be doing. I am giving this 4 stars mostly because the delivery handling was so rough, but I appreciate that customer service ultimately worked with me and issued a full refund. Im not going to throw the bed out, mostly because getting it back downstairs is such a huge hassle that Id practically have to throw it out the window. Very happy with the shipping. Came fast and no damage. The directions were fairly easy but could have a bit more clearer instructions in some areas. Took 2 of us about 1.5 hours. This bed was very easy to build. I built it by myself with maybe an hour a little bit more than an hour. The instructions will clear on how to use all the materials that they packed into the back of the headboard. The only thing that wasn’t clear was where to put the slats when you were adding that in but again you can use your best judgment of where to add in the screws. This is the best idea ever, I love it! I was not thrilled about a dark color so I took fabric and glue gunned it all around the wood pieces after I assembled most of it, their was enough room to do this and it worked great. I used a soft upholstry fabric and also laid batting on the broad surfaces. The mechanism works great and does not shut unless you pull it down.
