I got the multi-colored lights, and they're so gorgeous! Takes me back to my childhood. They're fragile, so you have to be careful, and they're somewhat hot, so it's important to put them where they won't risk fire. That's why people don't use this kind anymore, isn't it. I broke one of the bulbs accidentally just by letting it touch the floor a little too easily - luckily it didn't make the whole strand worthless, I just moved it so the empty was closer to the plug. The warmth and festive feeling of them is undeniably better than anything else. I hung them on cup hooks from the ceiling two inches from the wall and they look fantastic without touching anything.
