This is definitely a gorgeous bowl. Utensils are super sturdy and nice. The only downside to me is that I was expecting a bigger bowl. My impression was that this was "extra large". It's a normal size salad serving bowl. One reviewer gave it 4 stars because she thought it was too big - strange to me. My bad because even looking at the size and dimension information it didn't register with me. We love this set of Mikasa bone china. We bought it to replace another Mikasa set that has a metal lining on every plate. We specifically wanted one that was dishwasher and microwave safe. The artwork on the plates is beautiful and looks much better in person. The plates are lightweight and much lighter than our equivalent size ceramic plates. They didn't stain after we ate curry on them. We hand washed and also washed them in the dishwasher. They came out perfect both times. If I can edit my review later, I'll try to add some photos. The dinnerware set features a simplistic embossed bead design that wraps around the edge of each piece.

These feel delicate but not so much that they'll break if you look at them. They are light to hold but they have some heft in the middle and bottom which makes them stable on the table. The bowls and mugs are surprisingly decent in size and the plates, even the smaller plates, ended up being much larger than I had imagined based on the specs, which is good. Their color is true to the pics and pure white, and they're decorated with a subtle pattern which I didn't even notice first before buying. It's pretty minimal so if you're going for plain, this'll still work. Last but not least, these are packaged carefully. I was impressed by the amount of bubble wrap and cardboard which kept everything safe. Bought this set and another to mix n match and I love them! These Mikasa are gorgeous and match the brushed gold around the house but could also match with copper. I like that the backs are solid black. I've microwaved and tossed in the dishwasher with no issue. Banged them around in the resin sink with no chips. These stack great in the dishwasher too. The bowls are deep which is a bonus. The dinner plates are slightly smaller- the pic has a dinner plate with a salad rooster plate on top. But the size has not been an issue.
