Victorian cast iron sundial on classic base. The hour indicator is in roman numerals.

We needed to cover our well head and wanted something instead of a fake rock or wishing well. I wanted something more unique and artsy so I ordered this large rustic cast iron sundial and set it on top of an inverted stainless steel planter that was the perfect dimensions. The planter will soon form a rust patina from the weather, which will complement the sundial color. Both items are heavy enough to not tip in the wind or be knocked over by curious deer and everything can be lifted off for access to the well head. I think it looks great! The sundial is well made and came with what appeared to be a clear coat of weather protection but I sprayed it again myself as recommended by a Wayfair representative in response to my question about the subject. It’s very well made and solid. It’s large and beautiful. However, the top portion (3 spinner elements) are fixed to the angle you put it in the ground. Sunguard UV protectant spray helps extend the life of garden & outdoor decor. The superior UV inhibitors protect against colour fading, peeling, and cracking. When dried it has a clear finish, unlike polyurethane products, which will leave a sticky yellowish residue. Unfortunately, most garden decor comes directly from the manufacturer without UV protectant leaving your outdoor investment "exposed". Outdoor decor needs sunscreen too!
