My husband I just assembled the cat house for a feral cat that lives along a ravine behind our backyard. She had kittens a few weeks ago and we are feeding her well. We don’t know where the kittens are. Probably under someone’s shed. We are anticipating her to bring the kittens to eat when she is weaning them. Our goal is to trap them all together and get them spayed, neutered and their shots. We don’t have any structures in our backyard so I bought this for her so that when it rains she can still come and eat. I’m praying that the raccoons, possums and other stray cats leave it alone. It was easy and quick to assemble with the two of us. Everything was labeled well and instructions were simple. It is not a real heavy structure so we are going to put anchors in the ground and put straps on it to prevent it from flying away in high winds. We put it on bocks to lift it from getting saturated when heavy rains arrive. We live in Tampa where it is very dry right now, but rainy season will soon be upon us. This catio is fantastic! Much bigger than I expected and the quality is amazing. It is sturdy but in Yuma Arizona the winds can be hard so I used cement blocks to help keep it in place as a precaution. The only thing that I think needs improvement is the locks on the front doors. I am adding an eye hook for double security but thats an easy fix. It was easy to put together (my brother did it for me because why not ). This is a fairly substantial outdoor cat-house. We have a few strays that we care for, and I want to be sure they have somewhere to go this winter (besides going under our front porch!). The insultation looks decent. I will probably do a little more to ensure it's warm inside, like getting an appropriately-sized outdoor heating pad (the floor does have a space that a cord can fit through, which is great). I do appreciate the roof and the roof extension over the front door. I dislike the plastic strips as the cats don't want to push through them. But I'll figure that out, too.. Susan. Saint Louis, MO.
