Trampoline sizes

If you are buying a trampoline for the first time, think about what trampoline size will work best for the size of your yard, the amount of jumpers, and your budget. There are few different trampoline sizes to choose from, measuring your trampoline correctly will ensure you are choosing the correct accessories.

Mini (Under 5’)

A mini trampoline is the perfect option if you are looking for something for your toddler or if you are looking to use it for a training or workout session. It only fits one person at a time, is perfect for someone with limited space, and is budget friendly.

Small (5’ – 9’)

With indoor and outdoor options, a small trampoline is perfect if you want something for your child to jump around on. It’s small enough that it won’t take up too much space in your yard but will still give your child some room to bounce around.

Medium (10’ – 12’)

This is the most popular trampoline size. It fits well in most backyards and has enough space for a few kids to jump at the same time.

Extra-Large (Over 16’)

An extra-large trampoline is perfect for a family who loves to jump together! If you need space for a lot of jumpers, an extra-large trampoline is the best option for you.

Trampoline Types

When purchasing a trampoline, you will notice that there are different types. The type of trampoline you want will affect the trampoline size that you purchase.

Kids/Toddlers

Kids/toddlers trampolines are perfect for entertaining your child inside and outside. They are usually on the smaller side and often come with safety bars – allowing your child to hold on to something while jumping.

Fitness/Rebounder

Trampolines are now being used for working out! Most are small enough to fit only one person. Similar to kids trampolines, some come with a safety bar for you to hold onto while jumping.

Backyard Aboveground

Backyard aboveground trampolines are the most popular and come in a range of sizes. Because they are placed outdoors, you can purchase accessories like weather covers to help protect your trampoline through the elements.

Backyard In-Ground

Similar to aboveground trampolines, in-ground trampolines are a great option for outdoor use. Instead of being above the ground, they are level with the ground surface. This helps prevent any small children from falling off of the trampoline.

To reduce injuries, choose a trampoline with a safety net enclosure.

How to Measure Your Trampoline

Whether you are looking to replace your current trampoline or looking to get new parts or accessories, you’ll need to measure your trampoline to ensure that you are choosing the right trampoline size. Keep reading to find out how to measure a trampoline.

Tip!

For all shapes, we recommend taking each measurement twice to ensure a more accurate measurement.

Round Trampolines

When measuring a round trampoline, start at the outer edge and measure straight across to the opposite side. Next, measure perpendicularly to where you just measured. Take the average of the two measurements.

Oval Trampolines

When measuring an oval trampoline, you will want to get the length of both sides. Start at the outer edge and measure straight across to the opposite side (this will give you the width). Next, you will want to measure perpendicularly to where you just measured. Measure from the outer edge straight across to the other outer edge. This measurement is the depth. This will give you the two different measurements.

Square/Rectangular Trampolines

For a square or rectangular trampoline, you will measure both sides of the trampoline. Start by measuring the outer metal edge of the short size of the trampoline (the depth). Measure straight across to the outer edge of the other side. Next, measure along the perpendicular side (the longer side of rectangle) for the width. Measure from outer edge to outer edge. These two measurements will be the size of your trampoline.

Octagonal/Hexagonal

For an octagonal, hexagonal, or oddly shaped trampoline, it’s best to start at the outer edge at one of the corners. Measure from that corner straight across to the opposite corner. Then measure the frame diameter again, this time perpendicular to where you just measured.

How to Measure for a Safety Net

If you are looking to add a safety net to your trampoline or replace your existing safety net, you will need to find your trampoline’s diameter. Measure your frame size by measuring from outer edge to outer edge. Next, count how many poles your trampoline has. This will help you choose the best safety net for your trampoline.

How to Measure for a Safety Pad

When measuring for a safety pad, you will need to measure your frame size from outer edge to outer edge across the widest part of your trampoline. Next, find your spring size. Measure the entire length of the spring from hook end to hook end. Keep in mind that some safety pads come with holes for the trampoline poles. If you are purchasing a safety pad with holes, be sure to count the number of poles your trampoline has.
