Jana Bek: Master Bath Makeover Design Part 3

Dive into this interior designer's layout plans for her romantic master bathroom.

If you're just tuning in, welcome! My husband and I will be renovating our master bath in partnership with Wayfair and Kohler , and I'm writing about the process along the way. Catch up on our initial plans and design inspiration here.

In the past few weeks we've made a great deal of progress, the demolition, majority of the plumbing, and framing in the shower and washroom have been completed.

However, after we had completed the demolition and we taped off our new layout, we did hit a roadblock. Let's take another look at our original layout and what we hoped for our new
layout to be:

While standing in what would be the new enclosed shower/bathtub area we realized the space to stand in would be pretty tight, which then made sense. We would have been taking down the divider wall to the adjoining open space but not utilizing the additional square footage.

After drawing up many drafts for a revised layout, we finally came up with a solution. If we flip the French doors so they open out to the attached deck, we could centre the bathtub under the window. Then we positioned the shower space and vanity to keep the space nice and open. The layout below doesn't properly illustrate it but the walk-through area to the enclosed washroom will be wide enough to move through with ease.

I love the look of floating bathtubs so I'm excited about our solution, it will be a lovely focal point in the room. This layout required us to get a new wall-mounted faucet for the bathtub—how beautiful is this Kohler Antique Bath Faucet?

I think the tub nook will end up looking a lot like this beautiful bath by Muse Interiors (even the same hardware)! We are going with the Kohler Archer bath, which is more modern than the one is this photo, I think the modern lines of the Archer tub will be a nice juxtaposition with the more formal elements in the room.

I'm beginning to finalize the finishing touches for the design and I'm delighted to share that I'm creating a piece for the space myself and you'll have to tune in for the reveal to see my scheming. One hint: If you recall from the last post , I'm adding in soft blush tones to the design after I was particularly inspired by the "Petal Pink" mood board by Kohler . I know that's quite vague but, trust me, it's worth the wait!

Stay tuned for more renovation progress and thank you for tuning in! For dreamy design ideas in the interim, I definitely recommend checking out ideas.kohler.com!
