I bought two of these last Fall. I'd give it 5 stars, but one of them has a slow leak in the bottom spigot. It's not bad, maybe a few drops a minute. It would take months for it to drain out but I'm hoping it doesn't get worse. The housing that you screw the spigot thread into is plastic or resin, so I have a feeling it doesn't create as strong of a seal. The Good Ideas Rain Wizard Flex Kit Diverter System will work with virtually every downspout. The design is simple, and the kit includes all the needed installation tools. The diverter system not only fills the barrel from the downspout directly but also avoids overflowing the barrel when properly installed by directing excess water back to the downspout. Installation is quick and easy. On the downspout, simply drill a hole with the included hole saw, then insert the rubber rain catch. The rain catch design allows the collection of water as it runs down the walls of your downspout while it filters out any leafy debris. Next, drill a hole in your rain barrel at the same level and insert the flanged rubber receiver. Finally, connect the diverter and receiver with the included flexible tubing.

The 50 Gallon Terra Cotta Rainbarrel is a slightly smaller version of our 55-gallon Terra Cotta Barrels. Heavy-Duty Screening keeps mosquitoes out. Our rain barrels are uniquely designed with plastic fittings that match the rate of expansion and contraction of barrel plastic from season to season to avoid leakage. These rain barrels are repurposed from pre-used imported food barrels. There may be slight scratching or scuffs due to previous overseas transportation. Since our rain barrels are made of High-Density Polyethylene Plastic they can be left outdoors even in the winter months so there is no need to modify your downspouts in the Spring and Fall. The exact shape of the barrels may vary due to availability but the colour and size remain true. Because these barrels were originally used to transport food, there may be residual food product odour. The residual odour will dissipate after a few full barrel filling cycles. We use a PH-balanced, environmentally friendly soap when cleaning so that the water gathered can immediately be used on plants without harm. These barrels keep difficult to break down plastics from adding bulk to landfills and also contain and repurpose stormwater.
