The Salton Induction Cooktop and Temperature Probe work together to deliver automatic precision cooking for sous vide, deep frying, and slow cooking in one simple and sleek gourmet appliance. Whether you are new to the kitchen or a seasoned chef, this product will help you create flawless and repeatable dishes. The 10 temperature settings from 60°C to 240°C (140°F to 465°F) and 1500 watts provide the power to melt butter, steam, sear, stir-fry and boil. Boasting a solid crystal glass top, count down timer and easy to clean touch sensitive controls, this deluxe Induction Cooktop is perfect for everyday use.
A highly efficient appliance, but not for everyone (especially those who never read the instructions for what they're buying) : a pan or saucepan of too small a diameter will overheat the surface, which will automatically switch the cooktop to protection mode, which should irritate many users in a hurry (those for whom anything should always be cooked at maximum power in a minimum of time) !
With the exception of boiling water at power “10”, there's no need to exceed power “3” for impeccable cooking without altering oil or butter, while power “6” is ideal for searing meats without burning them (and never set over "8" for frying). Works wonderfully well with hybrid pans (such as Henckels Paradigm, HexClad or Paderno) up to 30 cm in diameter, and without generating any Hot Spot, as it happens all too often with other induction cooktop.
Easy to clean, accurate probe, fair price, convenient cord length, I couldn't do without it ! The only irritant is that the heights of the legs are not independently adjustable, so you have to find a level surface for it to spread the oil evenly in a pan (which is relatively easy in the kitchen, but not so easy on the terrace) !.
