Small Mailbox Dimensions

Smaller mailboxes are perfect for residences that don't typically receive a lot of mail. If you check your mailbox daily, don’t have a lot of subscriptions coming to your home, and only receive the occasional letter from time to time, a small mailbox is the right size for you. These types of mailboxes can be installed as a wall-mount option or on a post at the end of your driveway. Small mailboxes are around 12" tall and range anywhere from 5" to 19" wide and 4" to 14'' deep. A small mailbox can comfortably hold about 10–15 standard letters and two rolled magazines or newspapers.
Medium mailboxes are another great option for standard residential properties. They are designed to be slightly larger than small mailboxes and can be installed on the wall or on a post. A medium mailbox can hold everything a small mailbox can hold along with padded documents and any smaller packages you may receive. The standard medium mailbox dimensions are between 6" to 20'' tall, 6" to 20'' wide, and 10" to 20'' deep. If you are someone who loves online shopping or has a lot of subscription magazines that come in throughout the week, this is the ideal size for your needs.
Large mailboxes can still be used for residential properties, but their extra room is also beneficial for businesses. Large mailbox dimensions are typically between 12" to 20'' tall, 10" to 20'' wide, and 6" to 20'' deep. They hold small- and medium-sized boxes in addition to letters and catalogs. Magazines or newspapers do not have to be rolled up in order to fit in this size mailbox since there’s enough space for everything to be placed strategically. These are typically installed on a post at the end of your driveway.

An extra-large mailbox is best for collecting large packages, so this option is most beneficial if you’re a homeowner who frequently orders sizable packages or you’re a business owner receiving inventory. These types of mailboxes can be installed on a post at the end of your driveway, or you can place them to the side of your porch. Extra-large mailboxes have dimensions that range from 20" to 40'' tall, 15" to 40" wide, and 10" to 17'' deep. These mailboxes can also hold your everyday mail if you choose this option for all mail deliveries.
