No testosterone required. I did this all by myself in my pjs in 1 hour and 30 mins ish. I suck at following instructions especially ones that are lengthy and wordy. This was not super long and no words. I thought it would be humorous to time myself. The delivery came 6 days earlier than expected and I decided I didn’t want to wait for my husband to return from his deployment overseas and have to build this or for me to nag at him to build it. The delivery coming early was awesome the fedex guy himself sucked but not part of the full review. The package is heavy one giant box and well packaged. I think a large part of my time was consumed unwrapping the pieces. Lots of recycling so hopefully it’s your recycling day. I laid everything out by the numbers and laid out the pieces and went at it. I used a drill for the screws that are used for the locking mechanism it will save you time but just use a screw driver for the round locking mechanism. I would call them by their proper names but I long threw out the instructions. Both are the star bit (Philips for the more handy folks). The Allen key comes with it. Other than that you will not require any tools and if you only have the screw driver then it will take you longer to complete this project. I am impatient and would rather use a drill when I can. My only gripe with this is the I find the actual fire place insert sits low to the ground. It is how it’s designed. Our TV is mounted into a concretebrick wall so I didn’t want to mess around with the tv so I find unit a little low. That can be easily rectified by building a platform to raise it. Overall I like the unit but was very disappointed when I first opened the box as the fake looking wood effect looked more like tire marks all over.
